Comprehensive Façade Remediation in Surry Hills

This six-storey residential building at 471 South Dowling Street in Surry Hills underwent extensive façade remediation works to address ageing finishes, hazardous materials, and deteriorated building elements. Located in inner Sydney, the project required careful planning to meet heritage obligations while improving safety, compliance, and long-term asset durability.

Dapcor delivered comprehensive remedial works across approximately 3,000 m² of external façade, servicing a building footprint of around 390 m² per level across six storeys. A key component of the project involved the safe removal of lead-based paint from external façades and window elements, carried out in strict accordance with regulatory and environmental safety requirements.

More than 50 timber windows were refurbished or replaced across multiple residential units, improving weather protection and performance while maintaining the architectural integrity of the building. Balcony waterproofing and tiling were also completed as part of the façade upgrade, delivered alongside the replacement of aluminium stacker and sliding door systems to the top-floor penthouse units, ensuring improved weatherproofing, compliance, and long-term durability.

All works were undertaken in line with heritage and conservation guidelines to preserve the character of this prominent Surry Hills property. Working at height and managing hazardous materials required disciplined site controls, detailed staging, and experienced remedial delivery within an occupied residential building.

The completed façade remediation and balcony waterproofing works enhance structural performance, improve safety outcomes, and support the long-term protection of this inner Sydney residential strata asset.
