This heritage-listed residential strata building at 69 and 71 Curlewis Street in Bondi required specialist remedial building works to address deteriorated balconies while retaining the building’s original character. Located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, the project demanded a careful balance between compliance and heritage considerations.
Dapcor completed the replacement of 12 deteriorated balconies within an occupied apartment building. Due to the condition of the existing structures and the unavailability of matching heritage bricks in NSW, a tailored remedial approach was necessary.
Original bricks were carefully salvaged and used to create custom moulds, allowing new like-for-like bricks to be manufactured onsite to match the existing facade. The balconies were rebuilt to meet current safety and structural standards, while preserving architectural details such as brickwork, balustrade design, and original proportions.
